Since opening, it has proved a huge hit in the town, providing around 650sq metres of rock-climbing walls and obstacles, a dedicated kids’ bouldering wall, function room, associated changing facilities, seating areas and a café.
Director Doug Meyerhof told Lanarkshire Live : “Hang On Climbing Centre is celebrating our first anniversary since opening in May 2021.
“In light of this achievement, we are holding a climbing competition on Saturday, May 14 from 10am to 6pm.
“The competition is held in two stages, a ‘fun’ competition for all comers, and an ‘open’ competition for the more competitive and experienced climbers.
“The open competition regularly attracts members of both the Team GB Senior and Youth climbing teams, so the standard of climbing is superb.
“There is a modest entry fee for the fun competition, but spectators for the finals held between 4pm and 6pm are admitted free. Please come along and join in our celebrations.”
‘Hang On Climbing’ is an inclusive, engaging activity destination in the Town Centre of Hamilton, encouraging particpants of all ages in this dynamic sport.
Three members of staff operate the premises and the maximum capacity is 170 people during their opening hours of 2pm to 10pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday.
